IUKA, Miss. — Two people with Brown County ties were involved in a plane crash in Mississippi Tuesday, according to the Associated Press and local sources.

Tishomingo County Sheriff Glenn Whitlock identified the men as 61-year-old Greg Huett and 33-year-old Seth Rainwater; however, friends in Brown County say Huett's first name is Gary.

Both men attend New Life Community Church in Brown County, reported fellow church member Carol Russell. 

Rainwater owns a photography/videography business based in Morgantown.

The sheriff told the Associated Press that the men were flying from New Orleans to Indianapolis and had to ditch their plane into the backyard of a home off Mississippi Highway 25. Neither Huett, the pilot, nor Rainwater, the passenger, apparently suffered life-threatening injuries, but were taken Tuesday to a hospital for evaluation.

Rainwater, from his hospital bed, posted on his Facebook page earlier today that his surgery went well and that he'll have additional tests to make sure everything is OK.

Whitlock said preliminary reports indicate the plane was running out of fuel and was trying to make an emergency landing. Authorities believe in an effort to make an emergency landing, the pilot sideswiped a couple of trees, knocking the wings off, and possibly saving it from hitting a nearby home, the AP reported.

Officials with the Federal The Federal Aviation Administration were to arrive at the scene today.
