Local candidate forum is tonight

The Brown County League of Women Voters and Farm Bureau will present a public forum featuring local, contested candidates for office tonight at the County Office Building.

The forum starts at 7 p.m. Audience members will be able to question the candidates by writing their questions on index cards before or during the forum.

The forum also can be watched live online through www.bcdemocrat.com, and questions can be submitted by typing them on the chat screen. Look for the link to be posted early this evening.

The local, contested candidates for office in the primary election are all Republicans:

County recorder: Larry L. Gardner and Darin "Catfish" Platter

County commissioner Dist. 1: Dave Anderson and William "Bill" Boyle

County commissioner Dist. 3: Donna Kelp Lutes, Jerry L. Pittman and Joe Wray

The Democrats are unopposed.

Other candidates may also attend the forum and introduce themselves.

Democrat candidates who will compete against Republican Todd Young for the 9th District congressional seat have been invited to attend another public forum Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at the County Office Building. They are Jonathan George, John Griffin Miller, John W. Tilford, Robert Winningham and Shelli Yoder.
