Need activities? Here's a sampling of what's going on in Brown County this weekend, from the May 16 Brown County Democrat:

SATURDAY:

Pancake/Biscuits & Gravy Breakfast – Sponsored by the Brown County Lions Club, Parkview Church of the Nazarene annex, 7-10:30 a.m., $7/adults, $4/children 11 and younger.

Festival of Flowers Paint Out – Artists create artwork while visitors watch, T.C. Steele State Historic Site, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., registration $10/adults and $5/children, general admission free, parking $1. To register, call 988-2785.

Recycling special – Drop off your car tires (off rims) for free, Brown County Solid Waste recycling center, Greasy Creek Road and Old State Road 46, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Southern Jewel Open Horse Show – Hosted by the Brown County 4-H Bit & Bridle Horse & Pony Club, Brown County Fairgrounds, registration at 8 a.m., events from 9 a.m. Admission free, registration $3 per class or $30 all day, except money classes.

Howard Hughes Memorial Morel Mushroom Sale – Morels sold per pound and half-pound at market value, benefits Brown County charities, IGA parking lot, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To be continued Sunday, May 20 if supplies are available.

Brown County Relay for Life – Fundraiser for cancer research, with silent auction, live music, survivors at 9 a.m., cornhole tournament at 1 p.m., Fight Back at 5 p.m., luminarias at 10 p.m., closing at 1:30 a.m., Brown County High School track, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Beavers and wildflowers – Meet in Lake Ogle parking lot, Brown County State Park, 10 a.m.

5th Annual Taste of Brown County – Restaurants and shops offer specialty dishes and drinks, beer and wine garden, live entertainment, downtown Nashville, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., purchase tickets at CVB or in Coachlight Square, $1/one ticket, $10/12 tickets.

Armed Forces Day – Celebration and open house for all veterans, active duty, reserve, National Guard service members and their families, Nashville Masonic Lodge, 19 Artist Drive, 11:30 a.m., meal of ham and beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, hamburgers, hot dogs, dessert, coffee, iced tea and lemonade, live music, county veteran organizations on hand to answer questions, free.

Support study-abroad plans –  Irish-themed gathering for Angelica Nevins, Brown County High School graduate who has been accepted into the Dublin City University study-abroad program, with Irish food and entertainment, Mother Herb Nursery, 1450 State Road 46 East, 1-7 p.m.

Live Indiana birds of prey – Talk, Brown County State Park Nature Center, 2 p.m.

Good Times Good People Music Festival – eXplore Brown County at Valley Branch Retreat, $35/weekend pass, $20/day pass, children ages 11-17 admitted for half price and ages 10 and younger free.

Dave Miller – Light classic rock, Little Gem Restaurant in Abe Martin Lodge, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Sycamore Valley Euchre Club – Senior citizen building, Brown County Fairgrounds, 6 p.m.

Forest Gras – Live music, Big Woods Pizza Co., 7-9 p.m.

Travis Creek – Live music, Muddy Boots Café, 7-9:30 p.m.

"Back to the Land: A Musical Benefit for the new Brown County History Center" – Traditional American folk music and living history with Jon Kay, Dillon Bustin, Grey Larsen and Bob Lucas, Brown County Playhouse, 7:30 p.m., $25/performance, $50/reception and performance.

"SONGS: The Musical" – Broadway showstoppers and tunes from famous Vegas lounge acts, Palace Theatre of Brown County, 8 p.m. $18/adults, $16/military/students/seniors 60 and older, $10/children 12 and younger.

SUNDAY:

"Painting Nature: Watercolor and the Creative Process" – Artist John Bradley instructs artists in watercolor layout, underpainting, graded washes, dry brush effects, brush strokes, lifting and applying mask, T.C. Steele State Historic Site, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $40. Call 988-2785 to register.

Robbie Bowden – Live music, Big Woods Brewing Co., 1-3 p.m.

Dan Cantwell – With his music students, Pioneer Village in downtown Nashville, 1-3 p.m.

Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta – Activities, contests and prizes for dogs, benefits the Brown County Humane Society, Deer Run Park, 1-4 p.m., $15/dog.

Song recital – Featuring Strauss’ "Vier Letzte Lieder" and Ravel’s "Histoires Naturelles,"by Sharee Seal, soprano, and Charis Peden, mezzo-soprano, with Casey Robards on piano, St. David’s Episcopal Church, state roads 135 and 45 in Bean Blossom, 2 p.m., free will offering.

Book signing – With Henry Swain and his Liars Bench-inspired book, "Hank’s Tall Tales," The Book Loft, 2-4 p.m.
