Rain and snow likely today, Friday
Updated on: 12.19.12

From the National Weather Service:

...STRONG STORM SYSTEM TO MOVE THROUGH THE REGION...
A POTENT LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST
TODAY AND MOVE QUICKLY INTO THE GREAT LAKES LATE TONIGHT INTO
EARLY FRIDAY. THIS SYSTEM IS LIKELY TO BRING WIDESPREAD RAINFALL
AND POSSIBLE EMBEDDED THUNDER TO THE AREA CONTINUING INTO
THURSDAY. RAINFALL WILL CHANGE TO SNOWFALL
BEGINNING LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON...AND REMAINING PRECIPITATION
WILL BE ALL SNOW BY THURSDAY EVENING. SNOW WILL CONTINUE IN
PORTIONS OF THE AREA THROUGH MIDDAY FRIDAY.
AT THIS TIME...LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS APPEAR LIKELY...ESPECIALLY OVER
NORTHERN PORTIONS OF CENTRAL INDIANA. ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD RANGE
FROM AN INCH OR LESS OVER SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA...AROUND
AN INCH ALONG THE INTERSTATE 70 CORRIDOR...AND 2-3 INCHES ACROSS
NORTHERN PORTIONS OF CENTRAL INDIANA.
ADDITIONALLY...VERY WINDY CONDITIONS WILL ACCOMPANY THE STORM
SYSTEM THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY...WITH SUSTAINED WINDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH
AND WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 45 MPH LIKELY. THIS MAY CAUSE TRAVEL
DIFFICULTIES...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES...BOTH FROM
THE WIND ITSELF AND FROM POTENTIAL REDUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO
BLOWING SNOW.
FINALLY...THE STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO
PRODUCE THE COLDEST CONDITIONS OF THE SEASON THUS FAR...WITH WIND
CHILLS PLUNGING INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS AT TIMES THURSDAY NIGHT
THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT ACROSS THE AREA.
