Brown Countians for Quality Health Care will host a meeting Thursday, Jan. 17 to discuss a proposed health care initiative gathered from a recent study by graduate students from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

This forum will be from 7-9 p.m. at the Brown County Public Library, lower level. It will focus on five areas of discussion to improve health care opportunities for this community, with a short recap of statistics presented from the initial study.

Topics of discussion will include expanded health care services and hours; transportation to and from health care providers; educating the public about existing opportunities for health care; advocacy and information availability to the public regarding health care opportunities; and financial support and outcomes.

Columbus Regional Hospital and Indiana University Health will have representatives at this meeting to discuss collaborative opportunities, available health care options and the need for support to bring a positive health care plan to Brown County.

Dr. Rob Stone, director for Hoosiers for Commonsense Health, will attend to answer questions about this organization. Brown County’s two local family care physician offices, (Dr. John Alessi and Dr. Marin Garcia) will have representatives present to help answer questions about the availability local of health care.

Businesses, churches, service organizations, schools and governmental agencies are encouraged to attend the forum. The organizers intend for independent discussions to develop among businesses, governmental entities and residents about the availability of quality health care for the insured, under-insured and uninsured.
