Nashville Police are looking for a local man who was last seen Tuesday night.

Officer Dalton Herrin said 74-year-old Thomas Merritt left his home in the 100 block of Ridgeway Drive on foot at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.

“He took off walking out of his home, didn’t take a vehicle and he hasn’t been back and nobody’s seen him since,” Herrin said.

Merritt is a white male with white hair who is 6 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. His home is just north of downtown Nashville on the east side of State Road 135 North.

Merritt’s wife contacted police after her husband did not return home after a dispute. He was last seen on foot wearing brown Carhartt overalls and hiking boots. He left without his medication.

Police searched the area around Merritt’s home, checked all the hotels in town and contacted friends and family.

Herrin said police used the A Child Is Missing program to notify area residents via phone calls of the search for Merritt. If that does not lead them to Merritt, the officer will instruct the Indiana State Police to issue a Silver Alert, which aids in finding endangered adults.
