9:09 a.m.: A woman was found dead after a fire inside a house on East Washington Street this morning, Nashville police have confirmed.

Her identity has not been released, pending the notification of relatives.

The fire was reported sometime after 6 a.m. by a Brown County Schools bus driver. Nashville firefighters reported finding flames shooting out the front door and windows. They attempted to make entry through the door, but were pushed back as the roof began to collapse. They were able to enter in the back of the house and discovered a woman inside.

Brown County Coroner Rob Ayers reported that there was no fire damage in the room where the woman was found, only heat and smoke damage.

No cause of the fire has been determined. The state fire marshal is en route.

More information will be reported as it is released.
