Archie L. Johnson, 80, Bloomington

Archie L. Johnson, 80, Bloomington, passed away Thursday at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born April 15, 1933, in Monroe County, son of Dennis and Lenore (Bartlett) Johnson.

Archie served in the United States Army. He was self-employed and worked in aviation manufacturing. Archie loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer and pilot.

Archie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Johnson; five children, Michael Johnson, Jeannie Karnes, Denise Taggart, Dean Johnson and wife Tracy and Sandra Gearhart; a sister, Rose Deckard; sister-in-law, Marcella Johnson; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin Johnson; brother-in-law, Dale Deckard; sister-in-law, Susan Myers; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at Allen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
