Election results impounded Wednesday
Updated on: 11.24.10

The bailiff of Brown Circuit Court is impounding election materials this Wednesday afternoon in advance of a recount hearing scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29.

Election materials from precinct four in Washington Township - including all ballots, voting machines, tally sheets and poll books - are being impounded in the county clerk's office by order of Judge Judy Stewart.

The room in the clerk's office has been ordered to be locked and sealed so there can be no ingress without breaking a special seal.

The Brown County Republican Party requested a manual recount of election results in Washington Township precinct four and for the election materials to be impounded, filing both requests Friday, Nov. 19.

A court hearing on Monday has been set to discuss scheduling and procedural matters related to the recount.

Stewart has also filed an order allowing the Brown County Democratic Central Committee to intervene in the recount proceedings.
